What We Believe
The Washington Wellness Modalities consists of any aspect of daily functioning necessary to create a balanced lifestyle. We are often forced into lifestyles or feel stuck into a particular way of being simply because we do not know ourselves, or think we need a “green light” to take the next step. Each Wellness Modality has its unique place in your life, and we want to make sure it’s applicable to you. In order to make sure that each person gets the most out of the experience, healers will complete an inventory designed to identify the health modalities that are most impactful for your quality of life. There are several aspects of wellness that contribute to overall well-being.
Remember what Dr. Will says: “Therapy focuses on disorder, wellness focuses on healing.”
The model will focus on the following health modalities:
Physical
Physical health can be considered not only as a body focus, but can also be the input and output of your body. The type of nutrition and rest you maintain to be present in everyday life.
Ex: How much you exercise, eat, and able to do daily activities.
Mental & Emotional
Mental and emotional areas focus on emotional distress and provides insight into the narrative of your internalized conditioning. This will look into self-concept, self-esteem, and perception.
Ex: How you feel about yourself, how you think about yourself, and how stress effects your day.
Social
Social health looks at the company you keep and how you value their weight in your life. It is essential to look into the hands that reach out to you and who you reach out to. Relationships and community are focused by this modality.
Ex: How are your relationships at home, work, or romantically? Friendships count too.
Financial/Occupational
The financial modality focuses on the financial stability you hold, while looking into career and job satisfaction. This modality examines awareness towards how you contribute to society.
Ex: How does money effect your lifestyle? How does money impact your decision-making? Do you feel seen at your job? Do you feel supported by the way you work?
Environmental
The way you root yourself is imperative for your wellbeing. Are you surrounding yourself in domains that are nutritious for your self-esteem? The questions in this modality focus on places and things you do or root yourself in to understand how effective and positive they are for you. Sometimes it's not who you are; it’s where you are.
Ex: Is your home a space you feel peaceful in? Do you feel safe or welcome in your environment? Does your space feel clean?
Educational
The education modality is fascinating because it focuses on how, what, and why you learn. Self-improvement cannot occur without self-awareness, knowledge, and application.
Ex: Do you know the best way you learn? Are you able to learn from your mistakes? What do you need to feel like you can learn?
Family
Genetics are important to consider in terms of your health, and its narrative can even be more critical. Your involvement with your “family” (non-biological individuals included) and how you were raised affects your purpose.
Ex: What does your family say about you? What you do think about your family? What do you consider family?
Spiritual
The spiritual modality goes beyond religious affiliation or relationship with a higher power. It highlights the ability to make meaning and restore purpose in your life. This is an essential modality because the best change and investment stems from understanding your human compass.
Ex: Do you believe in something greater than yourself? Can you make meaning out of situations?
